Roy Skeggs was born in April 1934 in Barnet, England.
Roy started in the industry as an assistant account with Douglas Fairbanks Productions in 1956.
He started at Bray studios in 1963 as production accountant. Later promoted to company accountant and secretary. Became production supervisor in 1970 and (with Brian Lawrence) took over the reins of the company when it fell into receivership in 1979. Was latterly chairman of Hammer films, based in Elstree.

In 1988 he married Linda Nettleton with whom he had worked with on Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense (1984)
Roy Skeggs died on 19 December 2018, he was 84.
