Chris Barnes

Editor

Chris Barnes was born in 1938 in London, England, UK. Chris was an editor, known for The Saint (1997), The First Great Train Robbery (1978) and Death Wish 3 (1985).

His first film for Hammer was Ten Seconds to Hell (1959), where he worked in Berlin for 5 months. He continued working as an assistant until the mid sixties when he graduated to a fully fledged editor on Dracula, Prince of Darkness (1966), although his work continued to be supervised by Hammer’s editor-in-chief, James Needs. Of his working relationship with Needs, Chris recalled, “Jim Needs truly did supervise, but in a very pleasant way. He’d keep an eye on the rushes, so he knew what there was, to make sure it would basically work in his mind, and then just left me alone to construct it.”

Chris died on June 5, 2009 in the UK.
