Arthur Banks

Hammer’s master plasterer in the fifties, Arthur worked on many of the studio’s key productions, including their breakthrough film The Quatermass Xperiment (1955). He took over as the studio’s construction manager with Terror of the Tongs (1961), following the death of Mick Lyons. His brother, Stan, was also one of Hammer’s plasterers, taking over as master plasterer following his brother’s promotion.

Arthur Banks was so highly thought of at Hammer, that it was he who accepted the Queen’s Award to Industry when it was presented to the company in May 1968.
