Anthony Nelson-Keys was born was born on 13 November 1911 in St Georges Hanover Square, London.

He began his career as an engineer in the recording department of HMV in 1928. Served with the Army Film & Photographic Unit during the Second World War, then became production manager under Sydney Box at Gainsborough. Moved up to associate producer in the early 50’s. Joined Hammer in 1956, first as associate producer, then as producer and occasional screenwriter. He was also General Manager of Bray Studios during the 1960’s.

He is the son of actor Nelson Keys, and brother to actors John Paddy Carstairs, Basil Keys and Roderick Keys.

He formed Charlemagne Productions with Christopher Lee.

Anthony Nelson-Keys died on London on 19 March 1985, he was 73.
